Overview
Before you open the wizard, it helps to know the four ideas it is built on.
Key concepts
- Force — a team of AI employees working from a playbook. A Force has a name, a mission, up to five desired outcomes, force-wide guardrails, shared knowledge, shared systems, triggers and schedules, and exactly one current playbook. Its status is Draft, Operating or Archived.
- AI employee (member) — one hired specialist inside a Force. Each has its own name, role, instructions, model, access and limits.
- Playbook — the ordered process the team follows. Each step is run by a role on the team.
- Case (ask) — one run of the playbook, started by you ("Give your team a job"), by a schedule, or by a trigger.
Roles on a team
| Role | What it does |
|---|---|
| Manager | Leads the team: decides which members a case goes to and presents the finished result. Recommended. |
| Worker | Does the work itself. A team can have several. |
| Synthesizer | Combines everyone's separate answers into one. |
| Critic | Reviews the synthesizer's draft before it is shown as final. |
| Actor | Performs the final delivery action, such as sending a reply or writing to a system of record. |
A role decides which playbook steps a member is dispatched to. It does not limit what they can do. Hard limits are set separately (see Step 5 and Step 7).
Trust levels
| Level | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Shadowing | Actions queue for a person to approve. New members start here. |
| Learning | Currently behaves the same as Shadowing: manual approval stays on. |
| Trusted | Can act without the approval queue, still bound by system access and permanent limits. |
Before you begin
- You can open the Nexus Agent Force page if you have access to Nexus chat.
- Creating, configuring and deploying a Force needs admin access on that Force. As its creator you are the owner and have it automatically.
- Members run as the Force owner, using the owner's connections, not the person who hired them. Connect the systems you need under Settings → Connectors first.
- If you plan to hire AI employees, make sure a model or your own AI key is configured, or hiring will be blocked.
Where to start
Open Nexus Agent Force
In the left sidebar, click Nexus Agent Force. The Forces page opens and lists your teams under the Active, Drafts and Archived tabs.

Click New Force at the top right. If you have no Forces yet, the empty state ("No Forces yet") has a New Force button too.

You land on the wizard at step 1. A progress rail on the left lists all nine steps, and you can jump to any step from it once the Force exists.

How the wizard works
- The rail shows a number or check for each step, its name and a short live summary. A Snapshot card appears once the Force exists.
- Each panel is headed Step N of 9 and ends with Back, sometimes Skip for now, and a primary button that names the next step.
- Most steps have an (i) icon with extra guidance.
- The current step is kept in the address bar as
?step=N, so you can bookmark or resume it. - Steps 3 to 9 need the Force to exist, so they stay locked until you finish step 1.
Continue to Step 1: Purpose.
