Document Intelligence

Document Intelligence is a search page for your knowledge bases. You type a question, pick a knowledge base, and Nexus returns the passages from your documents that best match it.

What it does, and what it does not do

It does:

  • Search the knowledge bases that already exist in a project.
  • Match by meaning as well as by keywords, then re-rank the best results.
  • Show the matching passages ("chunks") with a score.

It does not:

  • Upload or add documents.
  • Read a document and pull out fields, tables or text (no extraction or OCR).
  • Run jobs, show a history of past searches, or export results.
  • Write an answer with citations. It only shows the matching passages.

How it differs from similar features

Chat attachmentsFiles you add to a single chat message. See Chat: Artifacts and files

To connect or upload knowledge for an AI team, see Agent Force: Knowledge. To give a project its own files, see Projects.

Open Knowledge Explorer

There is no row for it in the Nexus sidebar. Use one of these:

  • The Service Directory (/services): find the Knowledge Explorer tile, "Search what the platform knows, from inside Nexus."
  • The search shortcut, Ctrl+K (⌘K on Mac).
  • The direct address, /nexus/docintel.

You need Nexus admin permission to open the page. Without it you see Access Denied ("You do not have the required permissions to access this page (nexus.admin)…") and a Return home button.

Search a knowledge base

  1. Choose a project

On the left, under PROJECT, pick a project from the list ("— select project —").

  2. Choose a knowledge base

Under Knowledge Bases you see every knowledge base in that project. Click one. The first one is selected for you. A unified badge marks the standard type, and the refresh icon reloads the list.

    SituationYou see
    Loading"Loading…"
No knowledge bases"No KBs in this project yet."
No project chosen"Select a project to see its KBs."

If the list cannot load, it simply looks empty. There is no error message.

Screenshot to add: The left panel with the project selector and the list of knowledge bases.
  3. Ask a question

Click the search box and type your question. Its placeholder reads Ask a question against "(knowledge base name)"…. The box is disabled until a knowledge base is selected. A line above the results reminds you which one you are searching: "Searching in (name) · collection (id)".

  4. Choose how many results

Pick top 3, top 5 (default), top 10 or top 20 from the menu (Max results).

  5. Search

Press Enter or click Search. The button reads Searching… while it works. It stays disabled if the question is empty or no knowledge base is selected.

Read the results

A line says "(N) chunk(s) returned". Each result is a card:

  • A number and a title: the document's title, else the knowledge base name, else "Chunk N".
  • A score pill. Green means 80% or higher, amber 50% or higher, and grey below that. A higher score is a closer match.
  • The passage itself. Long passages are cut at 200 characters, with more and less to expand them.
  • Up to five small detail chips, such as the source type.
Screenshot to add: Result cards with the score pill, passage text and detail chips.

How results are chosen. The search combines keyword matching with matching by meaning, then re-orders the best candidates. Each passage shown is up to 800 characters, centred on the part that best matches your question.

SituationYou see
No matches"No matching chunks found — try a different query or lower the score threshold."
Nothing searched yet"Enter a question above to retrieve matching chunks from this KB."
No knowledge base chosen"Select a Knowledge Base from the sidebar to start exploring."
The search failedA red box with the reason, or "Query failed". For example "Knowledge base not found" or "You do not have access to this knowledge base."

Changing the project clears your selection and results. Choosing a different knowledge base clears the results.
