Search and history

Find a past conversation, or a specific message inside one, and move around your chat history.

Search your chats

  1. Open search

Click Search in the left rail, or press Ctrl+K (⌘K on Mac). Pressing it again closes it.

  2. Type a few characters

Enter at least 2 characters. Before that it says "Type at least 2 characters to search." Results appear after a short pause.

  3. Pick a scope

Choose a pill: All (default), Personal, or Current Project. Current Project is disabled when no project is selected.

  4. Open a result

Click a result. A chat result opens the chat, scrolls to the matching message and highlights it. A project result opens that project's page.

Screenshot to add: Search results grouped as Projects and Chats, with highlighted snippets.

Results are grouped as Projects · N and Chats · N. Each chat result shows the chat title, its project and a highlighted snippet. Close with Esc or the close button.

What search covers

  • It is keyword search on chat messages (English) and on project names and descriptions.
  • It shows up to 25 results with no paging, and leaves out archived chats.
  • It finds your own chats, chats shared with you, and team chats of projects you belong to. Other people's private chats never appear, even to an administrator.

Find text inside the current chat

Press Ctrl+Shift+F (⌘⇧F). A Find in chat… bar opens with a counter such as 2 / 9, previous and next buttons, and a close button.

Your history

  • The left rail's Chats list shows your 50 most recent chats. Pinned chats sort first, then the most recently updated. It refreshes about every 20 seconds.
  • Groups: Personal, Shared with me, and one per project, each with a count. Empty state: "No chats yet."
  • Older messages load as you scroll to the top of a conversation ("Loading earlier messages…").
  • Drafts are kept for each chat, so unsent text is waiting when you return.
  • A link like /nexus/chat/(id) always opens that chat, so you can bookmark or share it with people who already have access.

Pin and archive

  • Archive: ⋯ → Archive in the chat header. A toast says "Chat archived — It no longer shows in your chat list."
  • Pin, unpin and unarchive: these are available on the Projects page, in a project's Chats in this project list. See Projects.

Past chats in answers

When Nexus uses an earlier conversation to answer, it cites it in the Sources row as a Chat chip. Clicking it opens that chat in the same tab.

Pin and archive are owner-only actions. Search needs Nexus chat access.
