Approvals

When Nexus wants to act on an outside system, for example send an email, update a record or delete a file, you decide whether it may. This page explains the approval modes and where to review what is waiting.

Choose an approval mode

  1. Open the Approvals menu

In the message box toolbar click the Approvals icon (a shield for Manual, an amber bolt for Bypass).

  2. Pick a mode

Choose one of the two modes below. The setting belongs to this chat, and is also remembered as the default for your next new chat.

ModeBehaviour
Manual (default)Connector and desktop actions wait for your approval
BypassActions run as soon as they are requested. Each one is still logged in Approvals

What happens in Manual mode

Nexus tells you in its reply that an action is queued. There is no approve button inside the thread for connector actions. Open the Approvals page to decide. Switch to Verbose view to see the queued call itself.

The Approvals page

Open Approvals in the left sidebar (/workspace/approvals). A counter shows how many items are waiting, and the same number appears as a badge next to the sidebar entry.

Screenshot to add: The Approvals page with the Pending and Actioned tabs and grouped requests.
  • Pending lists what needs a decision, grouped as Team Decisions, Desktop Actions, Desktop Runs, Agent Action Requests and Workflow Approvals.
  • Actioned lists what has been decided.
  • Empty pending list: "All caught up — No approvals are waiting for your response." Empty history: "No history yet — Decided approvals will appear here."

Decide on an action

  1. Open the request

Click a card to see exactly what the action will do and its details.

  2. Read the warning

Destructive actions warn: "This action cannot be undone. Check the details below before approving."

  3. Approve or reject

Click the approve button, whose label names the action, such as Approve & Send, Approve & Delete, Approve & Run or Approve & Run SQL, or click Reject. Close leaves it waiting. A toast confirms, for example "Task approved — executing now."

Screenshot to add: An approval request dialog with the action details and the Approve and Reject buttons.

In Actioned, each item shows its result: for example Sent, Deleted, Failed, Rejected or Outcome unknown, and a Bypass badge on actions that were allowed automatically.

Desktop runs

When a chat is bound to a desktop, a Desktop run card appears in the conversation with the goal and root folder.

  • While waiting it says "Waiting for your approval before this can run."
  • You can pick a permission level: Read only, Workspace write or Full access, and edit the root folder.
  • Click Approve or Reject (with an optional reason).
  • During the run, individual steps can show an amber prompt to Approve or Reject.

Desktop actions follow the chat's approval mode, after the desktop's own trust settings.

Who can approve

  • Anyone with Nexus access can open the Approvals page.
  • Desktop approval entries need the desktop approvals permission.
  • Changing the chat's mode is for the chat owner.
  • Approvals can also be decided from Slack or Teams if those chat channels are set up.
